"The Northern Lights"

My first night in the Banff National Park area in Alberta, Canada couldn't have been more amazing. I made friends with a fellow camper, Inge, and spent several hours chatting away. I'd met up with my local friend, Dani, earlier in the evening and she texted me to let me know the northern lights were expected.

At one in the morning, my alarm went off, I looked out the moonroof of my Element, saw clouds, and went back to sleep. An hour later I was up again and ran into Inge on my way to the restrooms. She pointed to the sky and we were off to find a better view.

As if to answer my internal question of how this could possibly get any better, a shooting star passed through in the midst of one of my exposures, resulting in this image. Nearly center is the faint streak of the shooting star.

I took this as Canada's way of welcoming me. ;)
