It was my last morning in Yellowstone before heading on to the Tetons and Colorado. It was also the coldest morning of my trip, with a thick layer of frost covering every surface. Walking in the West Thumb Geyser Basin, the thermal steam kept the cold at bay and I had a new appreciation for what these thermal basins mean for bison and other wildlife in the deep of winter...
